Abstract: The day after Valentine's Day and irrespective of what they say about the ground hog, shadow or no shadow, I am convinced that winter never really came, so how could we expect it to go away, at least that is the situation on the banks of the Outaouais this year. Without making this into a Christmas card I can say that things haven't been too bad this winter. Our neighbour Ivan managed to nail a buck, this fall, from which we have been eating some excellent sausage. And the turkey shooting is still going on south of the border, notwithstanding the odd bit of collateral damage. The climate is like a roller coaster, but that's no reason to jump on a bus or actually do anything in support of Kyoto. The epitaph of the election might read, alas : business as usual. Le roi est mort, vive le roi ?
