La SHC, c'est quoi ?

Fondée en 1922, la Société historique du Canada | The Canadian Historical Association est une société bilingue sans but lucratif et de bienfaisance consacrée à la promotion de l'étude savante et diffusion de l'histoire au Canada. Elle est la plus importante société savante d'histoire au Canada.

La société vise à encourager l'intégration et la mise en perspective de la connaissance historique dans les sphères académique et publique, afin de garantir l'accessibilité aux ressources historiques et défendre les droits et libertés des historiens émergents et professionnels dans la poursuite de recherches historiques ainsi que les diplômés en histoire qui utilisent les compétences en rédaction, en communication, en analyse et en recherche qu’ils ont acquises durant leurs études pour poursuivre une variété de carrières, tant à l’intérieur qu’à l’extérieur du monde universitaire.

La SHC|CHA compte des membres à travers le Canada et dans le monde entier, et sert les intérêts d’historiens professionnels, de diplômés en histoire et de quiconque s’intéresse à l’histoire. Organisme sans but lucratif constitué en 1970, la SHC|CHA possède le statut d’organisme caritatif et peut donc émettre des reçus officiels de dons.

What is the CHA?

Founded in 1922, the Canadian Historical Association | La Société historique du Canada is a bilingual not-for-profit and charitable association devoted to fostering the scholarly study and communication of history in Canada. It is the largest of its kind in the country.

The Association seeks to encourage the integration of historical knowledge and perspectives in both the scholarly and public spheres, to ensure the accessibility of historical resources, and to defend the rights and freedoms of emerging and professional historians in the pursuit of historical inquiry as well as those of history degree holders who utilize the analytical, research, communication, and writing skills they acquired during their studies to pursue a variety of career paths inside or outside of academia.

With members from across Canada and around the world, the CHA|SHC serves professional historians, history degree holders and anyone with an interest in history. A non-profit organization incorporated in 1970, the CHA|SHC has charitable status and as such can issue official donation receipts.
