Update on what’s happening at the CFHSS...

Abstract

The CHA has been a member of the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences since 1996, when the federation was created out of the merger between 2 separate organizations representing the humanities and the social sciences. Today, the federation is made up of 72 different scholarly associations. Under this umbrella, the CHA is categorized as a “large association.” The CFHSS is currently undergoing a strategic review. A prominent theme in the CFHSS Board proceedings was related to the overall effort to promote the place of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) in the federal government’s strategies.

La SHC est membre de la Fédération canadienne des sciences humaines depuis 1996, année de la fondation de la fédération qui a été créée par la fusion de deux organisations indépendantes représentant les sciences humaines et sociales. La fédération représente aujourd’hui 72 sociétés savantes disparates. Sous ce toit, la SHC est considérée comme étant une « grande association». Notre présidente, Mary Lynn Stewart, siège au sein de ce comité « grande association ». La FCSH effectue présentement un examen stratégique. Le thème qui se dégage le plus dans la procédure du Comité est lié à l’effort concerté pour promouvoir la position des sciences humaines dans les stratégies du gouvernement fédéral.
