Abstract

More than a year and a half ago, the program committee for the 2013 Canadian Historical Association Annual meeting sat down to agree on a theme for the conference in Victoria. The Congress tagline–@the edge – gave us some direction, and of course the goal was to identify a theme that was as inclusive and intellectually provocative as possible. “Intersections and edges” thus became our guiding principle. It gave shape to the conference, but the idea of “intersections and edges” also provides a lens through which we can look back on the events of early June. /

Il y a de çà un an et demi, le comité de programmation de la réunion annuelle 2013 de la Société historique duCanada se rencontrait pour s’entendre sur le thème de la réunion à Victoria. Le slogan du congrès –@la fine pointe – nous amis sur la bonne voie et l’objectif était bien sûr d’identifier un thème qui était aussi inclusif et intellectuellement stimulant que possible. « Intersections et limites » est ainsi devenu notre principe directeur. Il a donné forme à la réunion annuelle, mais l’idée d’ « intersections et de limites » fournit également une lentille à travers laquelle nous pouvons regarder en arrière sur les événements du début juin.
