Abstract

Récemment, pour préserver les standards de la discipline historique et promouvoir la connaissance du passé, les historiens canadiens ont dû intervenir plus souvent sur la place publique. La pratique de l’histoire les prépare à la tâche de plusieurs façons: ils savent prendre le temps de réfléchir de façon critique aux événements et aux débats de l’heure :

Recently, to protect the standards of the historical discipline and promote the knowledge of the past,Canadian historians have had to intervene more than usual on the public scene. As this issue of the Bulletin offers a summary of the specific principles that have guided the CHA in the last months, it is interesting to see at which point the practice of history itself prepares them to the task.
