Title: A Word from the President / Mot de la présidente
Authors: Marshall, Dominique
Issue Date: 2020-01-08
Publisher: Canadian Historical Association / Société historique du Canada
Series/Report no.: Vol 40 numéro 1;
Abstract: Established by concerned archivists over the void left by the recent death of unifying institutions, the virtual Canadian Archives Summit of January 7, whose epicenter was at the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, was an opportunity to reach hundreds of historians. This unique moment of exchange, made more urgent by the magnitude of the challenges posed by the digitization of current and historical documents, and where curators, librarians, advisers and bureaucrats assembled, highlighted the specific role of historians in the overall efforts to preserve and enhance the documents of the past, as educators, users, and consultants for the selection of records to be kept.
