Abstract

If you google the term “Canada Research Fellow” your search engine will likely take you to the CV’s of some senior academics, some based in Canada and some beyond. Some are historians, including Sarah Carter of the University of Alberta, a specialist in histories of the Canadian West, Indigenous people, and gender, and Paul Wood of the University of Victoria, a scholar of the intellectual history of early modern Europe. Carter and Wood were a some of the scholars who were part of this Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) funded programme, which ran approximately from 1986 to 1994.
