Abstract: The winner of the CHA’s Sir John A. Macdonald Prize has been recognised at the Governor General History Awards Ceremony for the last three years, in addition to receiving the prize at the CHA’s Annual Meeting since 1977. The 2011 winner, Michel Ducharme, for his book Le concept de liberté au Canada à l’époque des Révolutions atlantiques (1776-1838), was awarded the GG Award for Scholarly Achievement by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston during the awards ceremonies at Rideau Hall on December 11. Professor Ducharme and all of this year’s GG Awards recipients were also the guests of honour at a reception held at the Canadian Museum of Civilisation later that evening.

Le lauréat du prix Sir-John-A.-Macdonald de la SHC est honoré à la cérémonie des Prix d’histoire du Gouverneur général depuis trois ans en plus de recevoir le prix à l’assemblée annuelle de la SHC depuis 1977. Le lauréat du prix 2011, Michel Ducharme, pour son livre Le concept de liberté au Canada à l’époque des Révolutions atlantiques (1776-1838), a reçu le prix GG pour la recherche savante des mains de Son Excellence le très honorable David Johnston lors de la cérémonie des prix à Rideau Hall le 11 décembre. Le professeur Ducharme ainsi que tous les lauréats des prix GG de cette année ont également été les invités d’honneur à une réception tenue au Musée canadien des civilisations plus tard dans la soirée.
