The Social Control of Crime

Abstract

By social control, the author refers to all the means specifically used to prevent or limit crime. Social control is felt when, at the moment of violating a law, a person meets social resistance that prevent him\her from acting out or at least makes him hesitate. He constructed a theoretical typology of social control made up of four types, treatment, morality, deterrence, justice, that he systematically examine and, above all, he analyse their impact on delinquency and crime.
