Abstract: By social control, the author refers to all the means specifically used to prevent or limit crime. Social control is felt when, at the moment of violating a law, a person meets social resistance that prevent him\her from acting out or at least makes him hesitate. He constructed a theoretical typology of social control made up of four types, treatment, morality, deterrence, justice, that he systematically examine and, above all, he analyse their impact on delinquency and crime.
