Abstract: In the spring the CHA learned that only 56 per cent of Canadians who completed a form in the 2006 Census had agreed to let their personal information be released 92 years later. Like other groups, the CHA was concerned that this valuable resource for historians and social scientists(and many other Canadians interested in family or community history) would be permanently weakened as a research tool. In May we held a workshop during our AGM to draw together members of our association and other societies(especially sociologists, political scientists, and economists) who were concerned about this situation. Eric Sager(University of Victoria) agreed to head up this initiative.
